Celebrating Our Community School Coordinators - September 14 - 18 is Community School Coordinator Appreciation Week, and MPUSD is proud to celebrate the seven coordinators serving schools throughout our Seaside community. We’re better together, and these dedicated team members bring that belief to life every day. Learn more on our website and meet our our coordinators.

Information of Interest

September is Attendance Awareness Month - Every school day matters! September is Attendance Awareness Month, a reminder that being at school each day and on time helps students stay connected, keep pace with learning, build confidence, and develop habits for success. At MPUSD, each day counts and every person matters. We also know challenges can sometimes make getting to school difficult, and our schools are here to help. Learn more about why attendance matters and how MPUSD supports students and families. Also, throughout the month we will highlight what attending every day means to our students and staff in video reels on our social media, YouTube channel, and in this newsletter.

Calidental Open House - Community partner, Calidental, is offering an open house on Tuesday, September 8, from 5 - 7 pm in Marina.

Coffee & Cars Open to the Entire Community - As a community school, our Central Coast High School invites the entire MPUSD community to its coffee and cars event on Monday, October 26 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Support the school's student-run coffee shop, check out the car show, and check out the auto detailing competition.

Patriot Day | September 11 - On September 11, MPUSD joins communities across our nation in observing Patriot Day and remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the victims, the heroes who responded and served, and all those forever impacted by that day. We will never forget.

Hot Off the Reel

A Day in the Life is Back - Last year, we launched our A Day in the Life video series to take you inside the school day through the eyes of the students, teachers and staff who make MPUSD what it is. As we kick off the 2026 - 2027 series during Attendance Awareness Month, we’re highlighting Maryela Gonzalez, Attendance Clerk at Los Arboles Middle School, and the important role she plays in helping students show up, stay connected and make each day count. Spend two minutes with Maryela and see what A Day in the Life of an Attendance Clerk looks like at LAMS.

Board of Education

NEW Platform for Board of Education Agenda - MPUSD’s Board of Education agenda is moving to a new platform effective with the September 8, 2026, meeting (that posted on September 3, 2026). While we are moving to a new platform, the user experience will remain the same. You will log in from the MPUSD website or via link sent to the Board Agenda distribution list and once inside you will look in the top right hand corner below Login and select “Meetings” which is also housed near MPUSD’s “Policies.” This new platform also allows for a inked URL directly to the Zoom and AMP-TV access to the meetings. You may also find our Board of Education bios on this new system. If you have questions or feedback, please reach out to jash@mpusd.net.

Board of Education Meeting- The Board of Education meets this Tuesday, September 8 at a special location of Marina High School. Open session begins at 6:30 p.m. and you may access the agenda HERE. We will not be on AMP-TV this evening due to the location change, but you can always Zoom into the meeting. If you miss the meeting and want to know what actions the Board takes, you may read Board Highlights later that evening or watch Spotlight on Board Highlights later in the week.
