As we are getting ready for our Fall Break, I'd like to take some time to share some of our school's data around attendance since the start of the school year.
Let me start by sharing that as a parent, I understand that sometimes our kids will not be motivated to go to school, but please remember that school attendance is important because it directly impacts a scholar's academic success, social development, and future opportunities by building a strong foundation for learning, fostering critical skills, and improving chances of graduating and securing a strong foundation for college and career options.
The benefits of good attendance definitely outweigh some of the reasons for missing school. Consistent attendance helps students grasp core concepts and keep up with the curriculum, which is essential for understanding more complex material later on. Each day of missed school represents a missed opportunity for learning that cannot be fully made up with homework or take-home assignments.
In addition, chronic absenteeism, or missing 10% or more of school days, leads to learning gaps, poor academic performance, increased risk of dropping out, and can affect a scholar's long-term health and well-being.

Our goals is to stay in the green, to have a daily attendance rate of 95% and to lower our Chronic Absenteeism rate to at least 15%. so please continue to support your scholar to come to school every day and on time. The following calendars belong to August and September respectively and we definitely improved, especially on Friday's trends. Additionally, our Chronic absenteeism rate decreased from 23.8% to 21.9%. Thank you so much for your support! NEW | Pre-register Before Visiting Your School MPUSD is making it easier and faster for visitors to check in at our schools! Families and other visitors can now pre-register before arriving on campus, helping save time during the check-in process. Pre-register in advance, receive a QR code, and simply scan it at our visitor kiosks when you arrive and print your visitor badge. All visitors are still required to touch base with the front desk upon arrival and wear a visitor badge while on campus. MPUSD wants to make sure every family knows about this incredible opportunity to jumpstart their student’s future.
