Marina High School, established in 2006, is a secondary school located in Marina, California. Our mascot is the Mariner, that was created by alumni Emilio F. Garcia from class of 2009. The school colors are navy blue and gold. The trident was created by alumni Jonathan Rodriguez from class of 2013.
In 2011, Marina was recognized as one of the top 100 communities for young people in the nation. The student body is compromised of approximately six hundred students and is a reflection of the regions diversity of languages, ethnicities, nationalities and cultures.
We are looking forward to an exciting 2018-2019 school year at Marina High School. Entering our second year of implementation of our Early College and Career model we are elated to proclaim we are off to a great start. Construction of the new gymnasium is underway, with completion expected to be before the end of the school year. Additionally, we will be debuting 1:1 devices for every Marina High School scholar.
In continuing with our Early College and Career model, we will be exploring how we are all Efficacious, Adaptable, Worldly Wise, and Influential, further developing ourselves, our community, and our impact on the world. Our hope is that all Mariners, staff and scholars understand their purpose and have the agency to achieve it. At Marina High School we view agency as: “The capacity and propensity to take purposeful initiative-the opposite of helplessness. Young people with high levels of agency do not respond passively to their circumstances; they tend to seek meaning and act with purpose to achieve the conditions they desire in their own and others’ lives.”
-Tom Vander Ark, 2015
