Administration's Message

Greetings Mariners,

We are looking forward to an exciting 2022-2023 school year at Marina High School. Entering our sixth year of implementation of our Early College and Career model we are elated to have established a successful model. Scholars are able to earn college credit during their high school journey while also earning an Associates degree or classes towards an IGETC, general education requirements for college.  In addition to earning college credits, scholars have the opportunity to enroll in Career Technical Education (CTE) classes.  CTE classes prepare scholars to enter the workforce applying learned skill sets.  These skill sets (resume building, mock interviews, soft skills, etc.) are transferable to all jobs.

Over the past few years there have been many construction projects at Marina High School to include a new gymnasium, chemistry lab, culinary, health, and digital music projection classrooms, and three portables to support our growing enrollment.  We are excited to communicate that the district has made a commitment to have a new multi-use field installed starting in the year 2023.

In continuing with our Early College and Career model, we will be exploring how we are all Efficacious, Adaptable, Wordly Wise, and Influential, further developing ourselves, our community, and our impact on the world. Our hope is that all Mariners, staff and scholars understand their purpose and have the agency to achieve it.

At Marina High School we view agency as: “The capacity and propensity to take purposeful initiative-the opposite of helplessness. Young people with high levels of agency do not respond passively to their circumstances; they tend to seek meaning and act with purpose to achieve the conditions they desire in their own and others’ lives.”
-Tom Vander Ark, 2015

Marina High’s dedicated staff have many events and moments planned that will help us realize this vision as a community. Please contact the office if you would like to volunteer at Marina High School or to inquire how you can get involved.

Fondly,
Rebecca Tyson
